Awareness

Awareness is important to individuals with Down syndrome because it can make the difference in the amount and quality of opportunities for them in their lives.  RRVDSS has a variety of Awareness initiatives that are a vital component of our mission.

REACH Rally
Annual fundraiser and awareness vehicle for the Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society

Buddy Baseball
Organized baseball league for mentally- and physically-disabled children in the area

Snowflakes & Diamonds Gala
Winter fundraising event for the Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society

Awareness Calendars
Beautiful full-color calendars which show how each child with Down syndrome possesses a unique personality, available for purchase to aid in funding our programs.

Medical Outreach Program

St. Joseph's Community Foundation has awarded the RRVDSS a grant to expand our Parent and Medical Outreach initiatives.  We offer presentations to healthcare professionals (complete with take home materials) for doctor's offices, hospitals, clinics, etc. providing information on Down syndrome, how to break the news of a diagnosis of DS, and medical concerns involved with the diagnosis.
